World Champion Magnus Carlsen (left) played an excellent
tournament in Shamkir and won with 6 points after 9 rounds. Magnus
had a great finish, beating Topalov and Giri and drawing Liren in the
last round. This was the first time since ages, that Magnus beat
Topalov. A very important victory. Magnus also destroyed Giri with
the black pieces. To win a real top tournament with many of the best
players in the world must give Magnus a boost. Ling was second with
5,5 points. Solid Karjakin was third with 5 points after beating Topalov
in the final round.
