Grenke Chess Classic: Magnus won after play off

World Champion Magnus Carlsen took hos first big tournament victory in
Germany as he won the Grenke Chess Classic. Magnus played a draw
against GM Etienne Bacrot in the 7th round. Magnus had a winning position
which he destroyed with some bad moves right before the time control.
As GM Arkadij Najditsch played a draw as white against GM Levon Aronian
both players ended up on 4,5 points.GM Fabiano Caruana followed on 3rd
place with 4 points on better Sonnenborn Berger points then GM Mickey
Adams who beat GM Vishy Anand in the last round. Anand had a terrible
tournament finishing on 2,5 points. His play lacked aggressivity and he
made many bad errors. He should easily have made a draw against Adams.
In the play offs Magnus won the first rapid game, but Najditsch equalized
in the next.. Then the players played two blitz games which ended in draws.
In the last Armageddon game Magnus had 6 minutes against Najditsch` 5.
Magnus had to win. Magnus played 1.e4 and Najditsch replied with. Magnus
played Najdorf and got a big attack which he converted. Therefore Magnus
