The 85th German championships starts on Friday in Verden in Niedersachsen.
GM Daniel Fridman is the top seed. But he will be challenged by the reigning
champion GM Klaus Bischoff, GM Rainer Buhmann, GM Vitaly Kunin and
GM Igor Khenkin to mention some strong GMs.
