FIDE-Master Roland Voigt once again proved how valuable he is for his
team. Today he beat Manuel Feige. Roland made a sacrifice in the
middle-game. His opponent was also pressured on time. I had left the
Sportforum when this game ended. In Roland`s matchreport he comments
that he managed to bring the game to a winning endgame. Impressive!
Leonard Richter had to step in to play for SG Leipzig II on Saturday as
IM Heiko Machelett could not play. Leonard made an impressive game,
beating Frank Flöter with the King`s indian Defence. This is a young man
who will certaintly give Leipzig many good moments on the chess board
in the future. Well done, Leonard!
Manfred Böhnisch beat Prof. Dr.Sören Bär today. Very important for
Manfred to get this win after two losses against Nake and Jürgen Heinz, in
the game on the picture from yesterday`s match against Nickelhütte Aue.
FM Thomas Schunk yet again played some excellent chess with white.
He got an edge after the opening. Thereby pressing Guenter Sobeck in
the endgame. It will be mighty interesting to analyse this game.SG Leipzig
then won 5,5-2,5 against USG Chemnitz after the rest of the games ending
draws.Yesterday we won 5-3 against Aue in a hard fought battle.
FM Hendrik Hoffmann got his first victory of the season against FM Radek
Londyn. Hendrik made an early draw offer which was refused. Then Radek
missed Hendrik`s e5-push which was deadly. Well deserved victory for
Hendrik who made an important contribution to the 4-4 draw today against
FM Matthias Liedtke showed some fine chess skills this weekend. Here
he plays Prof. Dr.Sören Bär in Saturday`s match against Chemnitz. Matthias
seemed under pressure for quite some time, but his stamina proved vital
at the end, winning a difficult endgame. Today he beat Lutz Diebl from Aue,
setting up 2 points from 2 games this weekend! Pretty impressive stuff from
Liedtke! SG Leipzig I played 4-4 today against Aue and is in 10th place fighting
to keep the place. Read more from the weekend`s matches at SG Leipzigs`
homepage where Roland makes a very nice report which sums up the matches.
