London: Nakamura beats Anand

The 4th round of the London Chess Challenge was an exciting one.
GM Hikaru Nakamura (left) won a fine game as white against GM Vishy
Anand. Naka played the Catalan opening and with 6.Qc2 the players
discussed a variation which is not so often played as the main variations.
Nakamura won a pawn, but Anand has compensation. After a while
Anand`s queen was misplaced on the Queen-side and Nakamura
gradually outplayed his opponent. A fine win for Nakamura who is now
in shared lead with 2,5 points.The games Giri-Aronian, Gischuk-Vachier-
Lagrave, Topalov-Caruana and Carlsen-Adams all ended in draws. So
after 4 rounds Nakamura, Giri and Vachier-Lagrave share the lead with
2,5 points. World Champion Magnus Carlsen pushed hard as white
against GM Michael Adams in a 1.Sf3-game. But despite having rook
and bishop against bishop and knight, Magnus did not manage to break
down the fortress Adams put up. Read more about the round at ChessBase
and at Sjakkfantomet where Sven W.Nilssen analyzes the game Carlsen-
Adams. The 5th round will be played today at 17.00 Norwegian time.
The games are Vachier-Lagrave-Giri, Aronian-Carlsen, Adams-Nakamura,
Caruana-Grischuk and Anand-Topalov.
