German GM Georg Meier (right) won Elite Hotels Open in Växjö with
7,5 points after 8 rounds. He beat the Swede GM Erik Blomqvist as white
in the last round. Blomqvist was second with  6,5 points.GM Yuri Solodovni-
chenko was Third, also with 6,5 points. Svein Rishovd from Moss Sjakklubb
was the only Norwegian player. He made a fine tournament with 5 points
after winning 4 games and drawing the Swedish IM Axel Ornstein in the
6th round.Svein was number 42.
