Norway Chess: Magnus leads


World Champion Magnus Carlsen (left) leads Norway Chess after
the 6th round. Magnus played a draw against GM Anish Giri in
the 5th round yesterday. Today he drew GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.
The French player pushed hard as white in a Berlin-wall. He had
a piece for three pawns. In the end the players drew as Vachier-Lagrave
could not win with rook, Knight against rook and a pawn. Magnus
now leads with 4 points.Vachier-Lagrave, Kramnik,Topalov and
Hariskrishna followed with 3,5 Points. Harikrishna with a black victory
against GM Anish Giri, the second loss for Giri. He was smashed by
Vachier-Lagrave the other day. Tuesday is rest day. The 7th round
will be played on Wednesday.The games are Carlsen-Kramnik, Grandelius-
Chao Li, Aronian-Eljanov, Harikrishna-Vachier-Lagrave and Topalov-Giri.

1.Bundesliga:Solingen wins


GM Artur Jussupov (right) and his teammates in SV Solingen
beat Griesheim 1976 6-2 in the last round of the 1.Bundesliga
yesterday. Solingen is champion and has broken the dominance
of Baden-Baden.Solingen scored 28 teampoints in 15 matches,
without a loss. Baden-Baden was second With 27 Points. Werder
Bremen was Third With 25 Points. Grisheim, Bayern Munich and
Norderstedt will be relegated. Erfurter SK saved the plae as Turm
Emsdetten withdraws from the League.

Romania: Parligras is champion


Grandmaster Mircea-Emilian Parligras
won the Romanian championships in
Baile Olanesti. It was his first title
since 2001! Parligras scored 7,5
points in 9 rounds and distanced
the favourite GM Constantin Lupulescu
with 1 point.GM Tiberiu -Marian
Georgescu was Third with 6 points.

Latvia:Kveinys beats Miezis


GM Aloyzas Kveinys (right) and his teammates in Riga tehniska
universitate leads the Latvian team championships after the 4th
round on Sunday.In the 1st round match on Friday Kveinys beat
GM Normunds Miezis as Riga tehniska universitate beat Miezis`
team Olaines saha klubs. On Saturday the Latvian individual chess
championships
starts.The championship will be a 9 round tournament
til 6.May. Riga is the playing venue.

Moss: Svein Rishovd er klubbmester


Svein Rishovd (t.v.) vant klubbmesterskapet i Moss SK. Svein
vant på walk over mot Geir Meum Olsen i siste runde.Svein gikk
i mål med 7 av 9 og det holder til mesterskap ettersom Kjeld 
Christensen og Robin Olsen kun kan komme opp i 6,5 poeng.
Gratulerer, Svein! Den godeste Rishovd leverte også sterk innsats i
Copenhagen Chess Challenge der han scoret 4,5 av 9 og slo blant
annet FM Jakob Sylvan og Anders G.Hagen. IM Nicolai Getz scoret
6,5 av 9 og endte på 4.plass. Vinner ble GM Jonny Hector med 7,5
poeng. IM Petter Haugli og FM Petter Stigar fikk også 4,5 poeng, men
tapte elo.

Avduraim er Østfoldmester


Avduraim Dogani (t.v.) var utilnærmelig i Østfoldmesterskapet i
sjakk i Moss i helgen. På bildet ser vi Avduraim beseire regjerende
mester Paul Johansen i 5.runde. Avduraim vant alle sine fire langsjakk-
partier og utklasset konkurrentene med 5,5 av 6. Shemsi Rukovci
og Kristian Livendahl tok de neste plassene. Mesteren og bronse-
vinneren kom altså fra Fredriksstad SS. Plankebyen kan glede seg
før møtet med Østlandsseriens 1.divisjon. Avduraim kan glede seg
over at han nærmer seg 2000 i nasjonal elo. Med fortsatt kompromiss-
løs sjakk er han der snart! Gratulerer, Avduraim!
