Paleohora: Herbert is playing


Herbert Bornand (right) is playing in Paleohora Chess Tournament 2014.
The Swiss player whom I met in Rethymno some years ago will make
an interesting start in Paleohora. So far the Bulgarian grandmaster
Aleksander Delchev is the top seed with 2638 elopoints. From Norway
I will keep a close eye especially on CM Sebastian Mihajlov, Johan-Sebastian
Christiansen and Svetoslav Mihajlov.The tournament will be a nine round
open GM-tournament which starts Monday 21.July and finishes on Monday
28.July.

Switzerland: Reti Zürich leads Nationalliga A


Grandmaster Mihajlo Stojanovic (r.) and his teammates in Reti Zürich beat
Schwarz-Weiss Bern 5,5-2,5 when the 4th round of the Nationalliga A
was played last weekend.Reti leads with 8 teampoints, but Luzern and
Riehen follow with the same teampoints, but fewer individual points.
GM Lothar Vogt from Leipzig played a draw for his SG Zürich.SG Zürich
won 6-2 against Winterthur and lies in 4th place. The 5th round will be
played 29.June.In this round Reti Zürich will meet Luzern to a topmatch.

Rhein-Main Open: Melamed participates


WGM Tetyana Melamed (right) from Aufbau Elbe Magdeburg participates in
the Rhein-Main Open which will be played in Bad Homburg from Wednesday
till Sunday. There will be seven rounds Swiss.The 1st round starts at 6.30
p.m. (18.30). The last round starts Sunday at 10.15. a.m. The winner will
get 600 euros.The German GM Igor Khenkin (2578) is the the top seeded
player in the tournament. Four GMs participates.

Teplice Open: Expected victories


Grandmaster Evgeny Gleizerov made an expected victory in the 1st round
of the Teplice Open in the Czech Republic.


Stig K. Martinsen (right) won his 1st round against a lower rated player. Stig
plays black against IM Richard Biolek today in the 2nd round. The 2nd
