God norsk innsats i IBC Limburg Open

GM Leif Erlend Johannessen (2518) ble nummer åtte i IBC Limburg Open
i Nederland i pinsen. Leffi scoret 5 av 7, det samme som IM Torbjørn R.
Hansen (2475) som ble nummer 6. Ringdal Hansen remiserte IM Mher
(GER 2496). Carl Peter Kirkebø (2195) tok 3,5 poeng og Victor Hansen
(2088) scoret 3 poeng.

Combination

Combination on Monday.A.Mista-Najditsch, Bundesliga 2013. What
do you think about the move Rc5 which was played by white here?
Black to move. The solution follows on Tuesday.

Karjakin won Norway Chess

Karjakin tok førsteplass etter remis mot Topalov.
The Russian grandmaster Sergey Karjakin won Norway
Chess tournament after drawing exworldchampion Veselin
Topalov in the last round. Karjakin ended up with 6 points,
half a point ahead of GM Magnus Carlsen and GM Hikaru
Nakamura.Karjakin made a eloperformance of 2886 earning
15 points.He could leave Norway 100 000 euros richer!
GM Magnus Carlsen made an undramatic draw against
the world number two, GM Levon Aronian, to end second
in a somewhat disappointing tournament where his lack
of punch with white cost him the tournament victory. Magnus
has some hard work to do before Tal Memorial which starts
12.June in Moscow. This will be an important test where
he will meet Anand for the last time before the world champion-
ship match in November. Magnus will also face Kramnik, Nakamura
and Caruana.Hopefully Magnus will turn back to 1.e4 in most
white games to secure more white points! World champion
Vishy Anand once again showed he has problems against
GM Wang Hao who beat the champion for the second time
the last six months – he also beat him in January in Tata Steel.
Anand ended up in sixth place with 5 points. Not too impressive
before Tal Memorial. GM Jon Ludvig Hammer played a disappointing
tournament not capitalzing on many good positions. Normally
he would gain 3-4 points from these positions, but he was out
of form and will probably show better form in the time to come.
As it was he stopped on 1,5 points and an eloperformance of
2505.Play through the games of the last round on the homepage
and read the last report with pictures in ChessBase. It was a
great tournament by the organizers, but it would probably have
been smarter to avoid playing on 17 of May, and instead having
organized a party dinner for the players.
