Chemnitz is the chess city the next days.
Today the traditional Turm Open starts in
the city in Sachsen. Earlier in the communist
DDR-time its name was Karl-Marx Stadt named
after the great communist thinker with the same
name.The tournament like always attracts
strong players. Four grandmaster take part,
among them the top seed Czech GM Vojtech Plat.
But my chess friends IM Cliff Wichmann, Dr.Sören
Bär and Manuel Pietzsch will also take part.
I will keep an eye on their performances.
The 1st round starts today at 12.00. The last
round -round 7- starts Sunday morning at 9.00.
The winner wins 500 euros.
