The Russian Grandmaster Vladimir Epishin (blue pullover) won
his game from the 1st round of the 17th Bad Zwesten Open in North-
Hessen in Germany. My teammate from SG Leipzig, FM Hendrik
Hoffmann, also participates. Hendrik lost in the 1st round to a 1800-
player as white. I guess Hendrik will start winning tomorrow.
The tournament finishes on Friday with the 7th round.Epishin cashed
out 750 euros in Bad Schwartau last week and will be eager to win
the first prize of 1500 euros (about 13500 Norwegian kroner). But
players like the Latvian IM Toms Kantans and the German GM Lev
Gutman will push him as good as they can. Follow live games on
