Norway Chess: Topalov tournament winner

Grandmaster Veselin Topalov played a quick draw in the tournament
final against Exworldchampion Vishy Anand and won Norway Chess with
6,5 points. Anand made a good tournament and ended up 2nd with 6
points on better Berger-points then GM Hikaru Nakamura who beat GM
Levon Aronian in the last round. Our World Champion Magnus Carlsen
played a crap opening and was deservedly beaten by compatriot GM Jon
Ludvig Hammer.Magnus thereby finished with 3,5 points after 9 rounds.
A terrible result. Magnus was shocked by the loss in the 1st round where
the organizer and the chess judge did not inform him good enough about
the new time control. If Magnus had not lost this 1st game I am sure he
would have gone on to win this tournament.Yet again Magnus disappointed
in a tournament in Norway. This is a pattern which happens time and time
again. In this tournament his play lacked the normal precision. He also
overlooked too many tactical themes. One can also ask if Magnus could
have worked harder with his openings. Hopefully  Magnus will come
back strongly in the Sinquefield Cup in September. GM Jon Ludvig
Hammer saved a poor tournament with this victory. 3 points was still
at least half a point behind what he should have managed. Jon Ludvig
will be eager to hit back in Politiken Cup in July.
