IM Peter Schreiner and WFM Veronica
Exler won the titles in the Austrian
championship which was arranged
in Feldkirch, Vorarlberg the last week.
Schreiner beat IM Siegfried Baumegger
to secure his first Staatsmeisterschaft.
Schreiner scored 7,5 points in nine rounds
and distanced the favourite GM David
Shengelia with half a point. In third came
IM Andreas Diermair with 6,5 points.
Among the women, Exler secured her
title with a quick draw in the last round
to end up with 7,5 points. WCM Anna-Lena
Schnegg and WFM Katharina Newrkla
took the silver and bronze with 6,5 points.
